About Michele Norris
My love of the land and nature stems from a childhood spent in rural New Hampshire. My work speaks of memories of mountains and rolling hills split by sparkling rivers and covered by lush green forests and of days spent in rainbow-like gardens. As an adult I have been lucky to live in and travel to many places that have informed and inspired me. I pull from memories of the California coastline, the southern tidewaters, the desert landscape, the Maharee peninsula of Ireland and of course New England.
Today I paint in my studio in Northern Virginia. I paint in acrylic and in oil on paper, panel and canvas. Through a process of reduction and addition, layering and scraping, I enjoy creating interesting and opposing textures. Most of all I enjoy the daily process and ritual of putting pencil to paper, brush to canvas and turning my visions to reality.
For the past fifteen years, I have been painting commissioned work for private, government and corporate clients. I have exhibited widely and won awards. My work is currently displayed with various collectors across the country.
